How did satchel paige and nolan ryan change the game?
I actually don't think either one "changed" the game. Paige was a terrific pitcher, and part of his mystique was the speculation about his age - depending on which source you look at it's possible he pitched at least into his upper 40's if not later. Ryan also had terrific longevity, pitching into his upper 40's, and was throwing just as hard and effectively at that age. But I don't think either one changed the game, because people who are as effective as them at that age are still pretty rare. Julie Franco and Jaime Moyer are two players who come to mind in recent memory who played into their upper 40's, but nobody would think they were great players in their later years.
