What is so great about Asia?

My boss said this is the century of Asia. What does he mean by that? He is an European and said great things about Asia and moving there soon. Isn't it dangerous to go to third world countries? No running water, diseases, and rampant crimes are something we Americans are not used to here. What about poverty and limited choice of food? I don't get it.
