How did Lil Wayne get 8 Grammy Nominations (see details below)?

It was like they ignored all the other artists that put out albums in 2008 and just went by the guy who sold the most and who's fan base is "teeny bopper" non caring about real RHH music. This guy has absolutely no talent and he get 8 nods. Can someone please, please explain it to me? I am lost without words this morning!!!
