Why did God give us a backbone?

If there was ever a time in life where it was time to stand up and be counted surely it is now. The Politicians continue to support the rich and themselves and to hell with the rest of us. Everyday more and more scandal leaks out, but still we do nothing. What did our grandparents fight wars for? This country has been degraded, demeaned and sold out. So tell me yahoo'ers why did God give us a backbone?
