Can you sue a Hospital?

my grandmother just got back rom the hospital a few days ago, she had surgery at the hospital like a week ago, and she has a blood infection, from the blood transfusion, and she has infections based inside the surgical insertion, i was wondering, because she is now in that hospital again...if she dies, could we sue the hospital?
