Is the Earth part of a living being?

What do you think of the concept of the earth and indeed all the other planets and stars being part of a huge being ( God?) In the same context as cells ect are part of and make up our bodies. If you think of a m being solid ie metal, it's not actually solid it depends on how close the atoms are pact together. there is actually ' space' between atoms, Are we living on cells, atoms of an imensly large living organism?
